Musical contest “New Star” Interdenominational contest of young Christian pop music artist. This is brand new project but it has very big potential for Christian music development and establishment Biblical values in our society. The contest will take place in Riga and is planned for October 2009. We believe that the contest will gain international caliber and will be popular. (More) Although our production center will not offer free services for artist’ promotion we nevertheless have a place for charity in our work… We can offer a program of talent development for the beginners. This program is free. Its idea is to offer you an opportunity to show yourself at specially organized evangelical music events and also to participate in international Christian contest “New Star”. Winning one of the top places you will be able by your own to develop your oeuvre successfully.
Regulations of The first International contest of young Christian pop music artists „New Star – 2009” Contest organizer Music production company „HoFPro” (www.hofpro.com) Conditions of participation 1. For participation invited young performers (age from 16 to 25) of any music style. The number of performers in a group should not be more than 8 people.

2. For participation all participants should register and present following information: • Completely filled registration form (see Attachment 1) indicating age group and number of performers (registration form should be filled separately for each group and accepted as single copy).
• Audio Presentation One Audio CD with recording of a piece offered for the contest. Original song and well known Christian hit or any other material chosen by the performer. • Video Presentation Video preferably with competitive piece showing artistic image of the performer of high quality (format: AVI DV, PAL, 720*576, 48 KHz, stereo or DVD format: MPEG-2, PAL, 720*576, 9000 constant, 48KHz, stereo). • Photo 3-4 photography full length, format not less than 10x15 sm. on CD/DVD, format: tiff, jpg, size not less than 300dpi/inch. 3 pcs. of carrier • Advertisement material • Professional profile (artistic biography) with copies of diplomas from other music contests and festivals (years 2007-2008) attached 3. A decision on performer’ participation is be made by the organizers, who have the right to withdraw a performer from participation in the contest, if the data in the registration form do not correspond to reality. Music and sound materials sent to the contest are not reviewed and will not be returned.
Program, dates and venues
International Contest of Young Christian pop music artists «New Star 2009» held in 3 rounds.
1st round – Audition (done with sent audio records) Dates: August 10 – September 10, 2009 Venue: Riga, Latvia
According to the results the winners of 1st round will be invited for participation in the semifinal of the contest. Representative of Music production company „HoFPro” will contact a performer and after confirmation of competitive material will affirm in written form participation in the semifinal.
2nd round – Semifinal Dates: From October 25th to 27th Venue: „Good News” Christian center, Riga, Latvia The semifinal will continue for 3 days: October 25th - Arrival October 26th – Auditions October 26th – Auditions
In the semifinal the participants perform 2 pieces: • Original song; • Christian popular song.
By the semifinal results a qualified jury will choose 12 participants for the final contest.
3rd round – Final
Dates: October 29th-31st, 2009
Venue: „Good News” Christian center, Riga, Latvia The final will continue for 3 days: October 29th – opening of The first International Contest of Young Christian pop music artists «New Star 2009» - Performance of popular Christian music October 30th – Performance of original song October 29th – Award ceremony
Final concert and closing of the contest Phonogram usage, number of participants, rehearsals
1. Starting from 2nd round all performance should be done with „-1” phonogram (on CD or MD carrier) or with instrumental accompaniment. 2. Recording of additional vocal (back vocal) is permitted only if it does not duplicate the lead vocal (melodic line). 3. If a participants has back vocal singers live use of back vocal on the phonogram is restricted. 4. The running time of every performance should not exceed 3 minutes 30 seconds. 5. During contest performance (semifinal, final) number of artists on stage should not exceed 8 people including the participant, musicians, back vocals and dancers. 6. Rehearsals for participants of the Final round will be held-October 28th 2009 at „Good News” Christian center, Riga, Latvia
Contest jury
1. Performance of the participants will be evaluated by International jury made of popular Christian artists and producers in the area of multimedia. 2. During Final round evaluation marks are set on the 10-point system of open voting, which fully meets the criteria of International contests. 3. The decision of the jury is approved and documented by a protocol. The decision of the jury is final and not subject to revision. 4. The size of the jury - 11 people, including the chairman of the jury, as well as responsible secretary and technical secretary of the jury.
Distribution of awards and prize fund
Grand prize – 3500 EUR + video clip + winner’s certificate In each category the winners are divided as follows: 1st place – 2000 EUR + winner’s certificate 2nd place - 1000 EUR + winner’s certificate 3rd place - 500 EUR + winner’s certificate Audience Choice Award is recording of one audio track on CD. The winner of this prize is defined by the result of text message voting at „Good News” Christian center including votes of listeners and watchers of web-site of the contest.
Attention. All winning participants will be involved in a short tour around some churches where they will have a chance to play their song. Other participants receive commemorative diplomas and prizes.
Additional information 1. During 2nd round the Organizing Committee assumes no financial cost for the transportation, accommodation and catering, but is ready to assist in providing the required documents, letters, etc. 2. During 3rd round the Organizing Committee covers expenses of the performer and one accompanying person: • Local transportation; • Transfer; • Accommodation; • Three meals daily.
If necessary the Committee will provide support in receiving visa (invitation letters and other documents). The contest is held in strict accordance with the procedure defined by Organizing Committee.
